the issue about tobi that i don't really see being discussed very often is where the hell did he get that rinnegan eye from, or to be more accurate, what did he mean when he said the rinnegan was originally his in the first place in an older chapter? perhaps that is an important aspect as to who obito is.

I'm thinking he is a true uchia, and he awakened it just like madara did but madara died and we dont know about tobi. But as for going to why he gave nagato is still questionable unless he was weak from a long battle or to use him to increase his eyes powers Idk?

He has to be an uchia. Only some with the magyenkyou sharingan culd control the tailed beasts I think.

I read somewhere that in order for an uchiha to awaken the rinnigan he has to see his own death.

For one it deals with have exceptional chakara. The rest I don't know. But Ik you have to have ms or ems to achieve it.
