How does anyone feel about this? I feel that building her as an AP Bruiser would work well, and I found that she is a pretty decent duelist in spider form. I'd like some outside opinions though.

Not sure if this is worth a thread of it's own. Her Q is a great harass and rappel is a great escape.

Last time I checked you shouldn't be making a thread called "Top Lane Elise?", because that is how she is played.

I didn't feel like redirecting the conversation again in the main thread. When I saw her, I kind of figured that she'd be pretty good in top versus anyone who isn't a total lane bully at melee range, and if they are you can just poke them a lot with Q and W. Her exploding spider is just so strong and easy to land.

She's pretty much considered a top laner, what did you think she was?

I thought she was a top laner, but had no real way to back that thought up, so I wanted to ask for more opinions. Before she came out I actually thought to myself: "I'm probably going to use her top." It's just I had to figure out whether it was better to use her top than mid lane. Using her top, my teammates were a little frustrated because they didn't think it was her intended role (Elise doesn't go top! Noob). On the topic of jungle I'll probably do it occasionally.

The same reason why AP's like Vladimir, Nidalee, and Rumble go top. I believe that she has the harass, sustain, and dueling/trading prowess to function up there. Not to mention she's built essentially like an AP Bruiser rather than a full AP carry, so she has the tankiness.

Also Dinsfire I'm the only person I know who considered playing Elise top (meaning there might be more people who do that, but I just haven't seen them), every other Elise I've seen either went mid or jungle, so I wouldn't know whether the role was orthodox or not. I was just asking for some opinions, jeez.

The way you're phrasing your replies sounds like you're saying: "Wow what a dumb question, of course she goes top! It's common knowledge!"

But they're bad and you're not.

I would take Elise mid, jungle, or top, mid or jungle being preferred personally. Her burst potential is so high, I don't see any problem sending her mid and building straight damage early on. It seems to me that her early level dueling would be suboptimal, as she needs a few points in Q to become a real threat, so jungle is most likely her weakest role of the three. I imagine her range would give her an early advantage against melee that she could take advantage of until she gained a few levels, so her top would be pretty good. However, I think that in mid she would shine the most. The lane is short enough you don't have to fight much early on, and even then she seems to be on par with other mages, and is probably stronger than quite a few early on and could be a lane bully. Her roaming should be pretty strong since she has a ranged stun and she could really snowball the game pretty hard if she got control in mid.
Then again I haven't played her on SR yet, so I don't know anything about how well she actually works in each lane.
