I've been using Fox for awhile now. I believe there are some things that I know that other fox mains have not explored yet. So here's some of what I know.
So for all the fox mains that don't exist on this site, here's a video I made to perhaps further your gameplay.
Warning: The following video contains numerous up smashes in epic slow motion.
If you are actually looking for more information about any of that stuff, check out the swf thread I made. Since no one mains fox on here though, don't worry about it... :\
edit: The grab release>upsmash also works on Yoshi.
Nothing advanced, just going over some unique basic ledge options as fox and a few others that aren't popular.

Just a quick video I made showing Fox's ledge options. The majority of it is basic stuff though. Made this to help newer foxes and somewhat to answer a question.
*I generally ignored RCO lag in explaining these, but it does make a difference in a lot of them*
Personal thoughts:
*Bair from the ledge is... mediocre. It's not too reliable. Maybe it works really well without RCO lag
*I reaaaaally like ledge jump+shine. It's very underused and pretty good. Too bad it can't be buffered :x
*If the opponent is a distance from the ledge, lasers are actually pretty good. You can hit an opponent with potentially three of them (depends on height) while coming onstage. Bad things happen if you use this variant on "bad" ledges like FD, PS1
*Illusion to platform actually works pretty well. Maybe that's because I do too much wifi?
*The platform cancel technique I showed on SV is amazing and isn't hard to do at all. I highly recommend it
*If you don't have RCO on the ledge (on BF), the last technique I showed is also pretty good.
Lol at frosty spiking you, really nice video with a lot of great ideas. Also, do you need to grab an opponent in the air to force an aerial grab release? I know you can AGR characters on the ground just by pummeling a few times and waiting.
Edit: Not sure if Grab Release to Upsmash works on Pikachu.
Thanks Plank~
And it does combo on pika. I actually tested that one with my brother and he did buffered airdodges. I could still connect it though. It also registers as a consecutive hit in training mode(I should have let the help window open in training mode :\. Ah well...)
The thing is though, the timing for pika is very strick, way more so than it is on other characters. If you buffer the dash, it's guaranteed.

Air grab releasing is kinda character specific. For instance, Fox can force an air release on Mario without even grabbing him out of the air (but it doesn't combo into upsmash). On MK though, you HAVE to grab him out of the air and pummel. In order to force an air release, the character being grabbed has to be dangling off the ground (So this means that the shorter you are, the more prone you are to air releases). On some characters, if you grab them out of the air and buffer a pummel, the game counts their animation as being above the ground. This is because the game thinks that when you pummel someone in the air, you actually grabbed them out of the air, and so, they should be air released.
Ok that was really wordy...
I'm sure not if this technique works with every character though. Iirc, it works with Fox and wolf, but not Falco. IDK about other characters. I might be wrong here.
"I know you can AGR characters on the ground just by pummeling a few times and waiting."
This shouldn't be happening, unless it's a character that if you grab them normally, they are already above the ground (like Marth to MK). If it does happen though, then the character being grabbed was mashing out with pressing the jump button. If you mash out of grabs with using the jump button, then you will air release, even if you normally wouldn't.
That was kinda wordy also...
For example, if Mario grabs MK, and MK mashes jump to get out of the grab, MK will air release.
If this doesn't make sense, I can clarify.
edit: The clip with Frosty spiking me was actually the one I wanted to send to make that combo video.
All of what you wrote is really confusing, but I think I got the gist of it.
I've been doing what I said for so long and it seems to work for some reason. You'll have to get in chat sometime and make sure I understand this. It'd be appreciated. =P
Awesome fox! Nice technique you used there and I am a fox main myself so I will probably learn these! Thanks a lot fox 67890
You main fox?
And your welcome~

Man, I really suck at explaining things...
I got AP exams coming up this week, so I'm going to be very busy :\
But I'll try to explain again.
Here's a video of Yui, a japn fox main, demonstrating the aerial grab release on MK.
If you notice, when Fox grabs MK normally, his feet is on the ground, so he breaks out of the grab normally. When he grabs MK out of the air and pummels immediately though, his feet dangles off the ground, which makes him air break out of the grab.
If you use someone like Marth and grab MK, you don't have to grab him out of the air and immediately pummel. That's because you are already tall enough, such that his feet is already dangling off the ground when you grab him.
Perhaps that is a bit more clear?
edit: I saw Plank looking at my swf thread. *smirk*
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! I found a way to 0-to death diddy with banana Lock with Fox! I have no professional way to record it though, I could see what I can do!

There's too much happiness in that post.

Not sure if trolling but...
According to TKD... Wrote:
PROVE that we have an infinite on diddy? Like every char does, those I've found for fox are these; they include 1, 2 and 3 consecutive footstools(before landing) respectively:
- short footstool with nana held + downtoss, fast-fall and catch while drifting into diddy, link to continuity
- short footstool with nana held + downtoss, drift into diddy while catching nana, short footstool again (you haven't touched the ground) plus nana catch (doesn't matter if you airdodge since you're going to the ground anyway), link to continuity
- short footstool with nana held + downtoss, drift into diddy while catching nana, LARGE footstool + downtoss, drift into diddy while catching nana, short footstool + downtoss (doesn't matter if you airdodge since you're going to the ground anyway), link into continuity
Continuity links:
- downtoss a nana very close to diddy while your back faces him. during trip animation, this sends him into you. you can then short hop into diddy while catching nana + footstool
- footstool the tripped diddy and use whichever footstool downtoss variation you will. you'll need another method if you want to switch directions
- turn around and footstool the tripped diddy to switch directions of the infinite (like the first of these three methods)
As for ideas to start it, either footstool openings (poor of him if he trips), or drop nana + recatch with dair into diddy, buffer turn-around downtoss upon connection of dair, begin infinite. There's also down toss from above into nana catch (while falling) into footstool, but for that the nana must've hit diddy directly, not after it being blocked or spot-dodged. way unlikely. People should find more openings.
About platforms:
- use shorter cycles for the infinite to avoid platforms
- smashville platforms: hold down so you don't occasionally land on it by bad luck if you want: though this requires more tech skill. learn to time/measure your cycle so you never do the first footstool onto the platform (otherwise it'll obstruct you). my method was to use turn around + double footstool (the first before it's here, the second, shorter one to pass beneath it). if double foot-stool wasn't enough to go all the way through it, i'd complete it with the triple one (which goes short footstool, big footstool, any footstool -the third is so short it doesn't matter much-).
I once tried to record all of them, but my pc is too slow so the recording usually comes out horrible. I don't have the infinite practiced because I don't need it. I don't get to play vs. any Diddy.
It's a drag that a single match-up requires so much specific tech skill.
I never actually tried to do any of that stuff though, because it sounds hard. Maybe I could try again though.
If you could save a replay and upload it (or however you managed to 0-death), I could record it.
